Not to say its out of style now necessarily, but you never see a professional or anybody in political power with facial hair anymore and I am curious as to why that is.
Facial hair was fashionable from about the 1860s through the 1890s. If you look at a list of U.S. presidents, you'll see that there was only one president (Andrew Johnson) who did not have some kind of facial hair between Abraham Lincoln and the second term of Grover Cleveland. Moreover, the only U.S. presidents to have worn full beards came during that period.
I couldn't tell you why. The whims of fashion, I guess.
