I am learning 3d modeling and figured a good thing to tackle would be creating a fairly accurate wild west town, but not only am I looking to make sure I have buildings to scale, I want to make sure I can get textures and buildings as accurate as I can.
I know it can probably span a lot, but I am looking at like Bodie, Ca.
I know what it looks like now, but what did it look like then? I plan to build by scale, so learned today about wood sizes.
Most searches I have done come up with lots of models for peoples railroads and other clipart and old photos are of course black and white. Any help with old west architecture/facades/small town buildings would be greatly appreciated.
I am assuming door heights were 6.5ft? I have kind of been basing scale and using calipers off of that from old photos to figure height.
Any help would be appreciated. Sorry if it isn't the right spot.
One thing that you should know though is that the vast majority of the buildings in Bodie were painted white. You can tell just by looking up at the awnings of many of the remaining buildings. You can see a small portion of the paint remains.
