Im not asking to insight an argument. I know after WW2 a lot of new countries were formed in the redevision of europe, based on cultural, political and religous reasons. But I dont understand how the idea of the state of Israel came about.
Really this stems down to me trying to understand the current conflict
I wrote a long response on this, but if you have more questions after that I'd be happy to answer them!
Not the most qualified to answer this, but Theodor Herzl is regarded as the founder of modern Zionism. He wrote a futuristic novel-of-sorts (light on storyline) which advocated for European Jews to resettle in Palestine and build a state. The majority of his novel describes in detail how this would be done and gives utopian descriptions of life there. It's probably worth noting that Herzl envisioned the Jews living alongside the other religions there in harmony and peace. Oops, maybe not.
