This submission has been removed because it involves current events. To keep from discussion of politics, we have a 20-year rule here. You may want to try /r/ask_politics or another current-events focused sub.

If you want to just ask about what role nuclear arms have played in British history up through 1995, thats fine, but asking about whether it has succeeded in that role in the post-Cold War world is outside the scope of the sub. Sorry!
