This is obviously a very, very broad question, but I've been learning a bit about Felix Eboue and become interesting in the subject. I'd appreciate reading recommendations as well, if possible!
Chad, as part of French Equatorial Africa, was one of the few, by this I believe it was the only, French African Colonies to side with the Free French, and Félix Eboue was a part of this. Chad especially was important, bordering Italian Libya, and so acting as a jumping off point for General Leclerc's forces, who attacked the flank of the Africa corps as it was retreating towards the Mareth Line in 1943.
