Looking for a comprehensive history of the treatment of Native Americans by Europeans and the U.S. Government and its citizens. (Something equivalent in quality and scope to Richard J. Evans's work on the Third Reich.) Any suggestions?

I'm really sorry, but I don't think such a work exists. Native Americans, and the Europeans (and then the US govt) that they interacted with were incredibly variable. My dissertation is based on a single tribe in South Carolina, and the way they interacted with the English is almost unique. There are so many complex and important ideas that anything covering the 400+ years of relationships would necessarily be hopelessly simplistic.
