Actually there is no private ownership on the land in Ottoman Empire as all the agricultural land juridically was considered exclusive property of the Sultan (the farmers had no ownership on their land -only a right to operate it; their right to sell-or buy land were limited,as well as to inherit it. The land could only be granted by Sultan's or their representatives order - and taken back the same way). This legal setup prevented the emergence of any gentry at all (in most places) - including muslim gentry. No land aristocracy. It had other effects, too. After the Ottoman empire dissolved, it was too late for appearance of a real gentry - the world had moved on.
