Names of pirates in/around the Caribbean between 1700 and 1745

by tehfuck

I'm going to be running a (semi) historically accurate pen and paper RPG in the coming months and would like to get a list of notable pirates, their dates of activity, and ports of call. I've had trouble finding names, that haven't been used in movies or shows, and thus have a limited cast so far. I beseech your assistance, Historians! I will gladly research any given names. Thanks in advance!

  • Edward "Blackbeard" Teach (1715/16-1718 out of New Providence)
  • Stede Bonnet (1717-18 home port not specified)
  • Henry Jennings (1716-18, out of Nassau, New Providence. Interesting fact, Jennings actually did not die but surrendered to Woodes Rogers and lived out the rest of his life on a plantation in Bermuda)
  • Jack "Calico Jack" Rackham (1718 - 1720 in New Providence)
  • Charles Vane (1716-1719 out of New Providence. This guy was brutal, he had no respect for any established rules, including the Pirates' own codes of conduct).
  • Benjamin Hornigold (1715-18 out of Nassau, he then later became a Pirate Hunter for Woodes Rogers until his death on a reef in 1719)

In the future, I would turn to wikipedia for something like this. I know my answer isn't extremely in depth, but you asked for a list, so here you go.

I suggest you buy, or perhaps you can find online, this book: http://www.amazon.com/General-History-Pyrates-Dover-Maritime/dp/0486404889/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427080687&sr=8-1&keywords=general+history+of+pyrates

Most all of the pirate stories that we have existing today come from that book, which was published in 1722. There are over 50 pirates given biographies in the book.
