This thread and this thread never really reached any conclusion. I want to read the books because I expect their author's personality will make them entertaining, but I don't want my head filled with quasi-historical nonsense.
I know there are several in the series so please feel free to comment on any of them.
I think the comments in the first thread actually summarize the general opinion pretty well. There has long been a clear account of Patton dying as a simple consequence of a vehicle crash. Defying Occam's Razor, O'Reilly has come up with an alternative explanation that, because it involves conspiracy, envy and intrigue, is more fun and is selling books. It is possible that it is true, but it is also possible the entire world and everything in it was actually created five minutes ago, and each of us has been given a false memory.
