I have heard from people like Noam Chomsky that Lincoln and the Republican party of his time was opposed to wage labor. Is this true? And are there any good books on the history of wage labor and its support/opposition in the United States? Thanks in advance.
Where did Chomsky say that? Lincoln was a big supporter of central banking, free labor, wages, etc. He saw those things as necessary for America to grow. A good book to read on the subject is Lincoln and the Economics of the American Dream by Gabor S. Boritt
