A famous example you can look into is a novel named Looking Backwards:1887-2000 by Edward Bellamy. It tells of a man in 1887 (the year the book came out) who pulled a Rip van Winkle and woke up in the Socialist utopia of the USA in 2000. Bellamy, a major socialist, was...very...optimistic, and used the book to lay out his vision of the perfect society.
Edit: my favorite Bellamy prediction was that the English language would change less from 1887 to 2000 than it had from the American Revolution to 1887. I am still unsure if I'd count that prediction as right or wrong. Maybe I should make a thread.
