I recently came across an inscription laid out on a rectangular grid. The first logogram on all the glyphs were faces, specifically each column had its own special face which was used in combination with it's row position to make it's new facial expression, followed by another gram which just looks like straight gibberish to me.

Now I'm pretty sure it wasn't specifically that one I saw, and I cannot find the big inscription, but do any of you know what I'm talking about?

What you seem to be describing is rather standard format for classic Mayan script. The ascending/descending "chart" format is how just about everything was written. The regularity of the faces might indiacte an astronomical almanac or an Initial Series, which tells the date at the beginning of a long inscription. Otherwise, your description if awfuly generic when it comes to Mayab texts. Further adding to the troubles, some texts will use portrait forms of glyphs: regular syllables or logograms personified to have faces. Do you have any more information about it? As it stands, you're effectively asking the meaning of an English text with long horizontal lines starting from the left, with groups of symbols separated by spaces and a dot followed by a large symbol every few letters.
