Just curious, i always see Leif Ericsson portrayed wearing some sort of cape, or some average Viking peasant outfit.
But what kind of clothing did Viking explorers who went out to sail for new lands wore?, mainly during the cold that was in the seas of Greenland?
I also got a couple of more questions in the same thread, so a new one won't be necessary:
1- If Viking ships had no "basements" for its crew to sleep in, how did Leif Ericsson and his crew managed to stay weeks sailing from Greenland/Iceland to Newfoundland/America in this batshit cold waters? did they had some tents?, what if it rained there?, the same goes for other norsemen who traveled to Iceland and Greenland.
2: Did any of Viking authority wore a headwear other than helmets?, did they wore stuff like a pirate-like hat to be more precise?.

They put "tarps" or large cloths of different materials across the ships to keep them away from rain and snow. They typically slept right where they were during the day. But, on average most vikings didn't venture much out to sea except for spectacular voyages that you have heard about. So, it wasn't much of a problem to dock and make camp on the shore, if they needed to stretch out.
No they didn't wear pirate hats. They wore clothing like this. Mostly wool clothing, because wool was plentiful from the sheep that were more suited for colder climates. They wore bright colors and woolen cloaks.
