Despite the well noted ramblings of crackpot revisionist Professor Randle Graves of the University of Jersey, there is little to support his claim. The vast majority of the construction of the Death Stars were conducted by astro and maintenance droids and class five labor droids. Humanoid contractors hadn't been used since before the great Sith Civil war. It was only after the techoligical dark ages of the Post Endor Era that the galaxy saw a reversion away from droids and back to humanoid contractors. This was caused largely by the New Republics poor research management system that led to a millennias long technological backslide and general loss of Droid programming knowledge.

So Professor Randall's usage of a modern understanding of construction cannot in fact be applied to the height of technological achievement of the Great Galactic Empire.
