When Prince Albert originally got stuck in what has come to be known colloquially as the 'can' there was a massive public effort to release him. It was highly humiliating for the United Kingdom to have a member of its royalty trapped inside of a small tin can, and dignitaries all around the world sent various tweezers and crowbars to assist in getting him out. British citizens were reported to be calling Buckingham Palace nearly non stop, asking if the government still had Prince Albert in a can.

Unfortunately, the can was unable to be opened for unknown reasons (some claim Prince Albert's younger brother duct taped it shut so he could inherit the throne, but this is not widely accepted among the scholarship.)

Prince Albert died of lung cancer in the can at the age of forty three. One of the major tragedies of the modern monarchy.
