I thought I was supposed to meet this girl in Istanbul, but when I called her she said she was Constantinople. Google Maps hasn't been any help. How do I find this place?

There have been many attempts by modern scholars to figure out the difference, if there indeed is one, between Istanbul and the city of Constantinople. In many ways this question is similar to the conundrum historians face in deciphering the similarities between New York and New Amsterdam. Both Constantinople and New Amsterdam are thought to be mythical, but there is a camp which firmly holds that we may find archeological remnants of a Troy-like Constantinople.

The government in Ankara has been oddly silent when replying to the requests of historians about information regarding Constantinople, saying that whatever information and sources there may be are nobody's business but the Turks. Either way, the general populace doesn't quite seem to be all that interested in the myth of Constantinople. Perhaps they just like it better that way. This lack of public interest is the fundamental reason as to why no serious research has been done into Istanbul-Constaninople relations.
