How does one write a comparative book review in history?

by whatsdownwithme

So as a first year undergrad student taking a 20th century world history course, our paper for this term is to write a 10-12 page comparative book review about a particular event in the 20th century, utilizing two books written about the same subject from two different authors.

I'm under the impression that this assignment is meant to teach us about historiography, as well as how to critically think about what is written about any particular subject.

But... like I said, as a first year student, I have no clue how to do this, whatsoever. So historians of my favorite subreddit, please share your wisdom to an aspiring historian.
