Space Jam was the pinnacle of Human-Cartoon relations, and also the result of a treaty. After the Toontown incident of 1988 (See: Who Framed Roger Rabbit) a treaty was struck by cartoons and humans to work together. The incident is depicted in the movie with utmost accuracy and this was one of the first times that the human and cartoon worlds were pitted against each other. The Toontown incident nearly brought total war upon the two sides. President Bugs and President Bush, not wanting things to get out of hand, pushed for an end to the growing Toon Cold War and signed a treaty.

The treaty held a secret clause that called for the aid of humans when the cartoon world needed help. In 1996 the cartoons were faced with an evil never before seen. President Bugs negotiated a basketball game in order to save unnecessary civilian casualties. This is the first example in the cartoon world of using games to avoid war. Bugs then enacted the secret clause and received permission from President Bush to kidnap Michael Jordan.

After the Space Jam War, the cartoons and humans went back to their normal lives. Some still say that President Obama has a telephone line wired to the office of President Bugs, but no one can say for sure. It's all classified now.
