Has a consensus been reached on exactly why the Three Bears were eating porridge?

by thejoshknight

It just seems so odd. Bears love meat, especially fish. By all accounts, these bears lived in a wood with easy access to streams, rivers, and the domains of small, innocent forest creatures they could kill, consume, and use to decorate their cottage.

But if the sources are to be believed, they only ate porridge! Is this the truth, or is it simply revisionism by the anti-hunting crowd? Or something else?

And you're not wondering why they had a house or beds? Just porridge??

The three bears are part of a rather progressive community of vegetarian bears. Many traditional bears are omnivorous, so, like humans, it is not a huge leap to eliminate meats. These advanced bears have taken up the plight of poor humans and delicious forest creatures. They advocate a strict diet consisting solely of porridge, fruits, and chocolate pudding. Goldilocks just happened to commit her home invasion on porridge day.
