Why did William Wallace join the American Revolution?

After his rap battle with George Washington, he decided to join his son in fighting the British Empire to get revenge for the subjugation of Scotland. It is said that across the USA Wallace and his warriors' battle cries could be heard day and night. Their screaming bolstered the moral of the American people and convinced France to join America, lest they too were turned upon by this terrifying war machine.
