Does anyone know the current location of the Joanna Southcott box that was opened by Harry Price? http://www.harrypricewebsite.co.uk/Famous%20Cases/southcottbyharryprice.htm This person asked the same question on the Guardian website, and received a lot of interesting information, none of it answering the actual question. http://www.theguardian.com/notesandqueries/query/0,5753,-4563,00.html Someone here also claims that the event was filmed, though it doesn't seem to be available online.
Apparently the genuine box is still in the possession of Southcottians. According to Gordon Allan ('Southcottian sects from 1790 to the present day' in Newport and Gribben (eds) Expecting the End: Millennialism in Social and Historical Context), 'Several spurious boxes have been opened, but the real box remains in the custody of believers who await the call from the bishops that they want the box opened.'
I'm assuming the box in question is the one on display at the Panacea museum: (http://panaceatrust.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/old-box.jpg). It's in Bedford. I'm not sure where you're located, but you could always pop down and take a look if you're in the UK.
