Hi all!
I'm working on a short story and the primary topic is race/ethnicity and what's actually taught in SE states of the US. If you know what texts are used or teach US History in the south I would love a broad perspective or directions to info provided to High School students. I want to use that info as a base to explore the quality of what many teens know or believe relative to current events (of which I'm not looking for info on).

i have some anecdotal evidence from my childhood but i think you're probably off base. The three major publishing houses: Pearson, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and McGraw-Hill create an ur text and send somewhat edited versions to specific states so the differences in the textbooks are not going to be that significant. I think state DOE websites would be more useful (or that combined with a generic textbook) and practice end of the year state tests.
