I live in Northwest New Jersey. About 20 years ago, my brother came home with this sign. It says:

HISTORIC SITE

On May 8, 1768, this site was declared the first condemned building in North America.

I've been keeping it on my wall as a unique decoration all this time.

My brother has no memory of even bringing it home, much less where he got it from. He was maybe 12 or 13 at the time.

Over the years, I've called the local historical societies and even the state historical society in Newark, but I have yet been able to find out where it belongs.

I'm moving to the west coast in June. Before I go, I'd like to find out where the first condemned building in North America is. Maybe they'll want this sign or maybe not, but I'd rather not take it with me if I can leave it somewhere. Either way, I figure if /r/askhistorians can't help me, nobody can.
