Try The World At War for a larger view, and Battlefield for a more in-depth treatment of the battles themselves. They're both excellent, and the latter even throws in a bonus Vietnam season if you look for it. Not quite sure what to recommend for the Pacific Theater, although you could read Eagle Against the Sun by Spector.
