I came across this wikipedia article the other day suggesting that U.S. presidents Reagan and Bush (Jr.) believed that a confrontation in defense of Israel was part of biblical end-times prophecy. I've heard this claim asserted a few times before, but I wasn't sure whether this was accurate or made any difference in how the U.S. interacted with the rest of the world. I'd also be interested to hear if this belief was involved in the foreign policy of any previous U.S. administrations prior to the two mentioned above.
