How did Hitler manage to persuade Romania to give up Bessarabia to the Soviets?

And as a follow-up question why did the Romanian's then join with Hitler when it was Hitler who made them give up land to both the Hungarians and the Soviets?

Here's a pretty detailed post about Romania. It seems to indicate that it was Soviet demands which led to them losing the land, not the Germans.
