Are there Historical Associations Who Collects Letters From WWII?

by Mithrawn

My boss has the most amazing collection of letters from her grandfather who served in the 4th Marines throughout WWII. She has a lot and they are in great condition. I'm wondering if anyone on here knows of a very reputable organization that collects these letters. She is terrified that if she offers them up they will take the letters from her and she does not want to let them go. I thought that surely she could photo copy them and someone would take them for preservation. Any info on this process would be greatly appreciated. It is so important to save and document our history.

Lots of archives will collect letters on specific subjects e.g letters from evacuee children and stuff like that. If you can find an archive that collects information relevant to whatever is in the letters I'm sure they'd be more than happy to take them.
