I was wondering why the Wehrmacht Help the US Army at the end of WW2 to fend off the attack Castle Itter.

Just to make this even more interesting: The US Army troops under Lieutenant John C. Lee fought the attacking SS troops under Hauptsturmführer Sebastian Wimmer not just alongside Wehrmacht soldiers under Major Josef Gangl - but also alongside other SS troops under Hauptsturmführer Kurt Siegfried Schrader.
