What were the technical differences between the Koreans and the Japanese at the Battle of Myeongnyang

So I just saw the movie The Admiral: Roaring Currents (2014) and while the basic battle seems reasonably accurate I wonder about the technicalities. Did the Japanese not have any cannon ? Did the Koreans not have any guns ? Was the ramming bit at the end technically feasible ? What do we know about the ships and armaments used by both sides ?
