So Kronos/Cronus has been portrayed in popular culture (Percy Jackson, Age of Mythology, Wrath of the Titans) as a giant monster made of rock and molten lava and fire.
Is there any ancient Greek text/oral tradition that supports this portrayal? I always imagined him as a simple old man with dark dark features, more like how we portray Hades. How is Kronos usually portrayed in Ancient Greek mythology?

In Greek and Roman mythology all of the gods are anthropomorphic, and this extends to the titans as well. It's also important to remember that there were generally few physical descriptions of gods/titans in Greek and Roman literature, partially because they believed that humans couldn't look directly at gods in their natural form (see Dionysus'/ Bachus' Mum).
