You're making this connection between shouting and religion but it really doesn't exist. "Call and response" is an integral aspect of Arab music/dance/poetry that has long existed. It is popular throughout all sorts of chants and movements, including political movements. Its very common to have a leader who will call a phrase and to have a congregation respond or repeat the phrase, accompanied by clapping, dancing, and sometimes instruments.
