I am writing a paper in the style of the Renaissance humanists and I've decided to pay homage to baseball. Is there a humanist writer that I may not have heard of who has written about the importance physical ability or something similar to that? Thank you for any suggestions!
There was the The Book of the Courtier by Baldassare Castiglione which described the aspects of the perfect gentleman and was widely read in the 16th Century. Its basically a how to book on being a proper Renaissance man and in it Castiglione says a man must not only have a sharp mind but a good body, as this is a part of aiming of excellence.
