My question is: What were some erroneous assumptions made by people concerning World War I during the early stages? I know that the Austria-Hungary people thought that the war would be just between them and Serbia, but that can't have been it. What were some other false assumptions? Thanks!
That it would be a short war. Like the 1870 war. Like the Russia-Japan war or 1905. People (at least, most people) didn't expect the war to last 4 long years.
