Was the stigma against interaction with Jews so strong that guards who in other circumstances would have taken advantage of their power, chose to suppress these urges? Or were guards more given to abuse their power?
I can't comment on guards but if I recall correctly, In the book 'night' by Eli Wiesel there is mention of a concentration camp prisoner supervisor (as in an inmate who holds a supervisory position) having a paedophiliac type relationship with a young boy. My copy is in a box somewhere so I can't confirm - I highly recommend it as a short, readable yet piercing recollection of life in a concentration camp.
