I wrote up a whole thing before realizing you probably meant informational books, and non-fiction. That said, I strongly recommend Mahmoud Darwish's Memory for Forgetfulness, as well as the films Beirut: The Last Home Movie, which is a documentary, and West Beirut, which is semi-fictional, and directed by one of Quentin Tarantino's DPs.
