In fact, the highest-decorated American soldier of WWII, Audie Murphy, became an actor after the war and enjoyed a long career. Other famous actors who were involved in American wars were men such as Charles Bronson, Lee Marvin, James Stewart, Clark Gable, Glenn Ford - amongst many others. As an interesting side note, Audrey Hepburn actually worked as a courier for the Dutch resistance during WWII.
