It seems like a perfect idea to me. What was the original idea behind its implementation and what made it end?
When John Adams was elected president, he was a member of the Federalist Party. Thomas Jefferson got the second most votes and became his Vice President, however, Jefferson was with the democratic republican party.
With the President and Vice President from 2 different parties, there would be times when they were almost working against each other.
Imagine Bush and Clinton as President and Vice President. Doesn't matter which one is which. They wouldn't be on the same page.
