So I learned while doing some research on the United States's Office of Strategic Strategies (For those who don't know, was the precedent of the CIA), that the OSS had involvement in training, arming, and supplying of the Mao Zedong's Red Army. Then I noticed a document come up in trying to confirm this. The document discussed of how a young Mao got involved with a program between Yale and China, but didn't seem like a credible source. What sounded even more questionable was his membership or some relationship to The Skull and Bones. So if anyone has more information on my queries, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I had never heard of any such relation in my life, so I looked online a little bit and noticed that the sources which cite this sort of organization are a group of "New World Order" conspiracy theorists who thought that the OSS supported Mao because they wanted to keep China weak and make drugs. Simply put, ridiculous.
Mao was a teacher for a time, and eventually went to Peking University, where he had a low, insignificant position, and was mostly ridiculed for being a back-country hillbilly, essentially. Even when he was involved in the Communist Party, he never really appeared to have full control until the Long March, at which point any analyst would have concluded that they were about to be wiped out by the Chinese Nationalists.
