There's speculation that Victoria was an illegitimate child. I don't know how seriously the theory is taken, but part of the evidence is that haemophilia suddenly appeared in the royal family with Victoria and there is thought that her mother may have slept around. So the haemophilia could be a mutation, or it could have been introduced by another man's genes.
