I'm not aware of any aversion. I can saw that Rome favoured pigs in their diet but this was a reflection of Rome's power and wealth. Pigs are a 'luxury' item as they only existed for food purposes, goats supplied milk, sheep supplied wool, oxen provided milk and animal power.

Cattle consumption was more prominent in Gaul and Germany. Despite conquest by the Romans, they maintained their diets and in fact this cattle diet became the popular with the Roman legions which brought it with them when they moved about.
