Well there was Drang Nach Osten in Germany in the 19th century, which was fundamentally a desire to spread eastwards which became a core idea amongst German nationalists. It was picked up by Hitler particularly and became his idea of Lebensraum.

France had a strong sense that its natural borders were from the Pyrenees to the Rhine. Russia has always believed it is entitled to reach the Black Sea, hence the national obsession with Crimea. One could see the Irish desire for an all island state in the same light.
