As a technical note, it is not possible to bleep anything on a fully live show. There has to be a delay of at least a few seconds for the technician to react.

Before computers, the standard way to delay is by recording and playback from a tape loop. The first viable videotapes were in 1956, so anything before that was either fully live, or it was kinescoped which would allow for an edit rather than a bleep.
