The Mongolian Empire stretched from the Pacific Ocean in the East all the way to Poland in Europe. Why did the Mongols never venture South into India?

This map depicts the Mongolian empire at the height of its power. However I'm curious as to why the Khans never ventured South into India? I assume it was far richer than the Middle East(Kwarrismian Empire) or present day Russia(Kievian Rus).

But one thing is certain: Tamerlane who ruled North India all the way to Palestine around 1400 AD bragged that he was related to Genghis Khan 2 centuries before him.Who know if this is true. He was from Uzbekistan area.

A century after this, the Mughal's founder, Babur, also claimed to be related to Genghis Khan, and he was from Ferghana Valley also around Uzbekistan area. The word "Mughal" was the Arab pronunciation of the word "Mongol."

By the way, the Mongols also ruled Vietnam!
