The reason I ask is that there's an autistic poster who keeps editing wiki articles about Berbers and turning the info to some kind of berbercentrism. Claiming them to be the original pharaohs of Egypt and go on to name many historical figures to be of Berbers as well, as far as Edith Piaf! So who are those Berbers? I never heard of them other than being nomads of the Sahara. Were they as he claim to be the foundation of every civilization, and kept their independent states for 6000 years? I'm just curious as I have little information about that particular group.
No they aren't. They are related in a sense that Romans ruled them. Berbers kinda have some sort of rivalry with Arabs in the North African region. Think of it this way, North Africa was inhabited by Berbers long before the Arabs arrived. Berbers were crucial in Islamic armies, a good example is the army that entered Iberia was Berber-Arab, they also formed their own kingdoms and empires, the two most famous one being Almoravid and Almohad both ruled Andalus and North Africa. The correct for Berbers is Amazigh. Berbers comes from the word Barbarian, but I use it her for simplifying.
About the Romans, you must note they were ruled by the Byzantine Empire(Eastern Roman Empire) and were part of a province known as Exarchate of Africa.
