Was the English Channel called anything different by the French?

by saddetective87

Did the French use any other name for the Channel?

BaronOlio

In modern French, the English Channel is called La Manche. In the Norman language, the Channel Islands were referred to as the "Îles d'la Manche".

Not the most in depth answer but hopefully I could be of some help.
