In the wake of the Baltimore Riots, you see a bunch of people on Reddit and in the news urging people to protest peacefully. However, I can't really think of any truly successful (define as you'd like) large-scale peaceful protests in this country since the 1950s and 1960s. Am I missing something?
OK let me refine this a bit: Since the Civil Rights Movement, what peaceful protests in the United States have led to meaningful social change or domestic policy?
I'm just trying to figure out if there are any historical events over the past half century or so that could be a good reference for those in Baltimore.
