After African-Brazilian slaves were all freed, was there any sort of institutionalized racism present against them like in the US during reconstruction? Was there a sort of fight for civil rights and liberties? Or were they just immediately accepted into Brazilian society? Was there an area of Brazil that was more racist towards these freed African slaves like in the US?
