Would the Canadians and Russians have just agreed to call it a draw, or would some sort of tiebreaker been played to determine world hockey supremacy?

Towards the end of the 8th game, when it was close/tied, Russian officials approached the Canadian management and informed them that in the event of a tie in games, the series would be going to the Russians, as they had more total goals in the series.
And then Henderson scored!
