Looking for involvement of the 102nd ozark division in late ww2?

by Grumplstilskin

Hello all,

My grandfather was a captain in the us army. 9th army, 102nd division, co. G. I never met him and my family doesn't know much about his service other than he served late in the war, but was awarded a silver star for a very vague citation of "gallantry crossing the xxx river". I can not locate the citation anymore but I was wondering if anyone could provide insight on his units actions/battles and especially which river his citation would have been referring to. I believe it may have started with an R but I could be mistaken. Thank you for any info.

102nd Infantry division fought in the 9th US Army in North-Western Europe, 1944-45, and was involved in the crossing of the Rhine River in April 1945. It ended up at the Elbe River, where it met with units of the Red Army.

I have quite a bit of information on the 102nd, all three battalions. What is his name? I can do a quick search.
