What effect did the destruction of the Baghdad Library/House of Wisdom in 1258 have on civilization?

Destruction of ancient libraries such as this or the Library of Alexandria because it begs the question of what was lost? Was there some idea or information that has been lost to history that we still haven't figure out? Could there be some overlooked scientific truth or artifact gone? So the effect on civilization could range from insignificant documents to scientific, historical, or philosophical truths lost to time.
